Estee Lauder has always been, a posh brand associated with classy moms. But ugh, a mom brand trying to renew their youth appeal with a collab with Kendall Jenner and WINNING? Amazing.
I really do like Restless, one of the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick ($30) that piqued my interest in the entire line-up of brown nudes all the way to dark vamps. I have a penchant for orange reds, coral, and "hot" warm reds that brighten my face without making me look like a cray clown (Exhibit A: true neutral reds like NARS Audacious Lipstick in Rita.)
I'm much too lazy to compare ingredients, but something in these lipsticks make my lips look fuller, more even (it seems to wrap neatly around lip lines), and candy coated with color...without compromising moisture. They're pretty much a dream come true.
One gripe: the packaging, while hefty and luxurious, still looks a bit dated. I can't explain it. I do enjoy the heavy magnetic closure.
I've swatched it here with some of my corals and orange reds. I didn't want to include any true mattes in the swatch line since I feel like these colors are more striking in the warmer weather. From left to right: Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine Lipstick in Baby Flame (nice and long for ya), Maybelline Vivids in Shocking Coral, Innisfree CreamMellow in #4, MAC Huggable Lipstick in Fashion Force, Guerlain RA in Nahema, and EL Restless.
This is indoor lighting with some natural sunlight streaming in. Shiny... You'll see that Restless is the most matte of the bunch but it's a lovely true satin on the lips.
Here they are outdoors. You're able to see the slight nuances in each lipstick that can lean red, or pink, or peach. I'm sure the average person won't be able to tell these apart once they're on your lips but has that ever stopped any of us from collecting all teh lipstikz?!
In a warmer light, they're all pretty flattering on yellow and olive skintones! Again, Restless packs the most punch.
And here under flash photography you'll be able to see the finish and how they lipstick lays down with a swipe.
Plethora of similarly colored lip products aside, I really wanted to stress that these lipsticks are one of the few color lines I've been excited about in ages. To put it in perspective, the only lipsticks I've collected more than 5 of each were Too Faced La Cremes and Urban Decay Revolution lipsticks. With this line, I also don't find myself constantly applying lip balm, reapplying and touching up, or fixing bleeds (wipe wipe) with my finger. It's very slap and go, but the general effect is gorgeous and put-together even if you don't use a liner underneath and swipe straight from the bullet.
Sephora.com now carries them, but I got Restless exclusively from their website with free shipping/no minimum and a discount for being a new member. BUT SERIOUSLY I want more. I've been trying to be judicious when it comes to amassing new lipsticks, but whyyy did these have to show up and tempt me?
Bravo on Estee Lauder for renewing life into their collection.
