Review| Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize in Veruschka

I write this review with a heavy heart and wallet. The Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerize ($42, available on Beautylish) in Veruschka is beautiful in thought but lacking in application. I mean, look at the pot! Shimmery, golden, green tinged, pewter-y....all of the things I like in a cream eyeshadow that's meant for quick applications that resembles hours of blending.

I know that Charlotte Tilbury used to work with Tom Ford and her cream eyeshadows are supposed dupes of the higher end product. I've yet to try Tom Ford cream shadows, but I can tell you that even Maybelline Color Tattoos beat these by a long shot.

Look at it!! I weep a thousand tears. The product has a creamy whipped finish that feels wet and emollient to the touch.

It's one heck of a chameleon. In comparison with Colourpop Bae and my L'oreal Infallible single in Emerald Green from the left, it looks much deeper with more complexity. I mean, it would appear that you could pop this straight on the lids and look like a smoky eye goddess.

I have a lot of gripes with this formula. First of all, it looks like it's the most pigmented cream to ever grace the earth. However, just a quick swipe of the product onto my DRY lids turns it into a sheer glittery mess that's impossible to blend precisely. It's also very hard to layer the product up for maximum opacity without also increasing your chances of creases and settling into lines. I've tried applying with my fingers, a flat shader brush, a domed stippling brush.....all epic failures.

If you LIKE sheer eye products with tons of glittah, you may like this cream. Otherwise, I don't think that it's meant to be like this on the lids as it swatches beautifully on bare skin.

Even with my disappointment, I thought that I could use it as a colored "primer" for other eyeshadows. Nope. It remains tacky on the lids so blending powder on top is also a nightmare.

But look!!! It's so pretty. *le sigh*

It's really my fault for distrusting a ton of reviews and going against better judgment. You can do so much better than these.
