First Look| Stila Exclusive Convertible Color Palette

The Stila Exclusive Convertible Color Palette ($49) is a limited edition cheek and lip palette that's currently available at Sephora. After several weeks of high tension and work related stress, I treated myself to this palette even though I have a lip palette that can double as cream blush.

Why? Because the formula of these Convertible Colors are orgasmic when used as a cream blush. They're sheer but buildable, ultra long lasting (no really, these outlast some of my powder blushes), and come in lots of flattering colors. As a lip product, however, these don't impress me whatsoever. No matter how vibrant, it takes a lot of product to overpower your natural lip color and give you a stain.

Individually, a full sized pan is $25 for .15 oz of product. You don't need much at one time, so a palette with 12 x .035 oz of product each isn't a bad deal.

The palette comes with a full sized mirror and snaps shut magnetically. There is also a label of color names on the back of the palette for reference. Stila suggests you throw this product out after 6 months, but if kept away from sunlight and humidity and used with clean fingers....I don't see why.

Beware of hidden dog hairs and lint on your fingers! They WILL stick to the surface and you'll gouge out a bit (see Gladiola) trying to get it out. Best bet? Use a stippling brush for your cheeks or a lip brush for your lips.

This was taken in direct natural lighting. There ARE nuances in colors, so don't trust the Sephora representation of the 6 shades on the top two rows of the palette. They are more mauve, nude, and brown. Most of the colors, if not all, show up glossy and dewy on the skin. I've used this formula on oily skin and they don't budge once set.

Here's a swatch with one pass each on bare skin in direct sunlight. I could see some of the browner shades being contour appropriate!

Here's a photo in indirect sunlight, indoors. There's bright shades and muted shades, and enough colors to cover a wide spectrum of skintones. My favorites are Gladiola, Gerbera, and Petunia

Again, indoor lighting.

If you're a pro makeup artist, like to play with different cream colors, or enjoy (somewhat) matching your lip and cheek color, I'd suggest this palette! I already know I love this formula, so this buy was a no-brainer for me.

If you have cream blush/lipstick dupes, you REALLY don't need this!
